Friday Is As Good A Day As Any For A New "New"

Can we be real for a second here? Am I a blogger, by no means. Not that there's anything wrong with being a blogger.  In fact, one of my best friends is a fabulously passionate and talented blogger.

Basically what I'm saying here is, y'all, bear with me. I'm probably not going to be that girl you run to read about what she did on Friday night [let's be serious, I probably spent it at a baseball game], but if I let you in on a little bit of my story and make you feel like your's is worthy, I've done my job. If in the meantime we talk calligraphy or watercolors and maybe I even HELP you with something, I'm one happy mama.

Introductions, right? I'm Meredith Williams, a calligrapher, watercolor artist and the owner and artist behind Oaks + Gray Paper here in Raleigh, NC. Beyond that and before that, here's a few of the need to knows.

  • I married my high school sweetheart, Vance. Sure, it's so wonderful knowing this man so well I can almost hear his thoughts but it has been work, real work some days. And other days, just like in any other relationship, have been and will be filled with I-love-yous or I-miss-yous or even did-they-actually-leave-underwear-on-the-floor moments.
  • A 5-month-old rules the roost here. Our little girl, Hayes is a pretty adorable and happy little munchkin.  I'm constantly reminded by friends and family how delightful she is and yes, she really is almost always this happy. I'm lucky enough to get to spend my days with her though I have yet to master the art of calligraphing with a babe in one arm.
  • My dogs take up more of my King size bed than I do. I'm also mama to Zeke, a German Shepherd rescue and Mollie, a goofy Goldendoodle. They're good snugglers but sure do hog the covers.
  • My ideal date is April 25th, because it's not to hot and not too cold. Especially if it's spent doing yoga, eating sushi and watching an excessive amount of Disney movies. The Lion King is my stress-cure-all. And shopping. All. The. Shopping.

More later on all this silliness, including a picture of my crazy family!
